It’s been a while hasn’t it?

Sorry, sometimes life gets in the way you know….

Anyway, another wander through the BBC news site for you, but a slightly dry and flippant one.

Should Margaret Thatcher have a state funeral

Yes, open casket please…

The reports are no indication of any concern for the health of the 82-year-old, who was PM from 1979 to 1990.

Mother pleads for child’s return.

The mother of a seven-year-old girl who was allegedly snatched by her father during a supervised visit to the US has appealed for her return.

Umm, supervised visit?  How did he manage to snatch her then? Not very supervised if you ask me.

Boston police have issued an arrest warrant for Mr Rockefeller on charges of custodial kidnapping, assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Oh, such a fine upstanding father then….

This story struck me though, but not in the way you might think.

A sixteen-year-old Kenyan boy is being treated in hospital after losing part of his penis in a circumcision ritual.

Apparently the knife slipped.  What’s interesting for me though is the fact that this has even made the headlines when thousands of girls are *traditionally* circumsized, and many suffer secondary infection - where are their stories? If you put "female circumsision" into the BBC search and there are NO results. Use "female genital mutilation" and there are a few - the most recent and relevant is this one from June.

Anyway, before I lose my good mood completely and my sense of humour too - I’ve just seen the ad for Star Trek Voyager and it really annoyed me.

The text goes something like this: 141 crew, 71 light years from home, a female captain, and they’re completely lost, coincedence?

What? A woman driver and they get lost, no surprise???? How wrong is that? I’m not going into the merits (and not) of each captain or series but to runj a message like that? Virgin one, you got it so very very wrong.
