A.R.K.
Acts of Random Kindness.
Bear with me. This is the boat blog, we need a BIGGER boat right? In our fight against the patriarchal shark. And the biggest boat of all is the Ark?
So, blatantly borrowed from Morgan Freeman in Evan Almighty, the ARK is made of Acts of Random Kindness. (I know, it’s a biblical film but it’s funny, we enjoyed it and the message goes so far beyond religious boundaries)
God: How do we change the world?
Evan Baxter: One single Act of Random Kindness at a time.
Who’s up for changing the world?
Every year for the last three years I have sent Christmas gifts to women I will never meet. A parcel of gifts goes to a refuge in the UK managed by a very good friend of mine. This year another friend is joining in and we’re hoping to extend what we do to another refuge - more gifts to women we will never meet. They will never know who the gifts come from but at a time when they are at their lowest ebb, we can bring a smile and show that someone out there cares.
What will you do today? What Act of Random Kindness can you offer?

And would you look at that, I’ve stumbled upon your blog once more.
That movie..was amusing. Despite my abnormal scorn for that particular religion (forced to go to church as a child, very bad experiences, along with a lot of the problems going on involving that religion- i won’t rant).
Morgan Freeman is the only guy that can play god without seeming cocky. You know?
I’m too young to make any sort of difference. I’ve got no money, no way of transportation to anywhere but my own two feet.
When I can finally pursue my dreams, and make my own life better, once I’ve reached a stable point in my life, I suppose, I’d find a way to make a difference.
I’m stuck waiting until that moment.

Hey look at that Maumse! An Act of Random Kindness - you came and commented on my blog, thank you. You’re never too young, I know children that make a difference with a hug or a laugh. Buy a Big Issue next time you’re out shopping and smile at the vendor - it all helps recognise that they are still as human as you. It’s all about small differences.
